I read the first article you gave us but we did not discuss it in class, but I thought there were some interesting points in this article. One very interesting thing was "If we ignore how the students brain works, we will risk student success. I totally agree with this statement because we should push students to be as successful as possible.

With the PASS writing only 7 days away, teachers are getting stressed. We have science night coming up, science fair projects are due, and the PASS writing. March is a busy month. However the article about tactile learning and helping kids learn math better with using their hands, seems intereting. This tactile learning business seems helpful for elementary students, but what about Algebra, geometry, calculus and quantitations and things. Math is abstract especially after the 7th grade. This cutsie hands on stuff is interesting and beneficial, but will it help them in math in the upper grade levels. Will our students be able to compete with students from other nations?!
Taking what was one week and splitting into to different testing sessions has really seem to mess up a lot of things. The 3-8 folks around here are stressing too. And to top it all off we lost our workday that would have provided a break.
There actually is a program called hands on algebra that seems to help the struggling kids. Of course the ones that don't need it will think is is a big waste of time.
